Cape Rouge and her Inuit crew take us on a northbound journey along a wild and
magnificent coast. Steep cliffs, pale blue icebergs, fjords and lofty mountain
peaks provide a continuously changing panorama. Flora and fauna are as arctic
as they are unique: carpets of wild flowers, caribou, polar bears and black bears, raptors,
whales and seals, to name a few. Historic and contemporary Inuit settlements provide
cultural highlights. Our northermost destination is the abandoned settlement of
Hebron, a Heritage Site, at the foot of the Torngat Mountains.
We then head for the Kaumajet Mountains, a magnificent subarctic region.
There, we will go on day hikes across tundra and taiga and enjoy immense vistas,
solitude and the dancing northern lights. We'll also explore the northern boreal
forest before returning to Nain. |
| The logistical support of the
MV Cape Rouge, our small group size and the number of guides (2-3) allow for personal
freedom and initiatives. We focus on nature/culture interpretation and photography.
Labrador will inspire you to observe its wildlife, to photograph and explore -
a world-class opportunity in a remote subarctic wilderness. |
Note:
Northern Labrador is beautiful but hard to get to.
This expedition will be organized again in 2011. |
