Fall Expedition: Indian Summer & Polar Bears

Ragged Lake, Algonquin Park (Ontario)

19 day guided expedition | September 2017

Leaves turn anywhere from blazing orange to crimson red as we catch the height of the fall colours in Algonquin Park, central Ontario. We explore on foot and by canoe while keeping an eye out for moose and otter and tuning our ears to the haunting cries of loons and (sometimes) wolves.

In Winnipeg, we board the Churchill Express for a two-day train ride to the Hudson Bay where polar bears await colder weather to wander off on the ice. These arctic lowlands have even more to offer though as we hike through a unique coastal landscape with its unique fossilized limestone and stunted spruce in lichen-clad forests. Here Arctic hare, ptarmigan and foxes are the order of the day.

Northern lights blaze across clear night skies to cap our days’ outing and with crunching snow underfoot, you’ll get a real taste of the arctic!

Life without a challenge is a dull existence. Wonderful days in Algonquin as a prelude to sub arctic splendor and its polar bears. Trip of a lifetime!
