Custom Expeditions

Custom expeditions have gradually and finally taken over our scheduled trips! Recently, we organized mini-expeditions ranging from 3 days to 3 weeks. For each of those we put our 25 years of wilderness experience to work for you and designed a program that fits your specific interests, abilities, time frame, budget and preferences: leisurely base-camp walks and serious treks along Vancouver Island’s remote west coast, a trekking in the Yukon, a fishing expedition on the Pacific (halibut heaven), an 11-day survival course for a Peruvian family, sea kayaking the lesser known regions around Vancouver Island and canoe trip in central Ontario. In 2018 we took a visually impaired couple on a 3-week wilderness trip.

How about something a little more involved? Many of Nature Trek’s faithful participants come back to us looking for trips that appeal to their growing taste of adventure and wilderness. With their interests in mind we organized some very special expeditions – always interesting and often challenging, these trips were part of our custom programming. Like retracing explorer Otto Sverdrups’ travels through Ellesmere Island and going coast-to-coast in the rugged Brooks Peninsula on Vancouver Island’s westcoast. We followed a long forgotten trading route along the west coast of the Hudson Bay (and won the respect of local Dene elders in doing so). Our Labrador photography trip spawned a traveling exhibition and we rafted the Tatshenshini (2008), the McNeill (2012) the Alsek (2014) and the Bonnet Plume river (2016). We conduct research trips with small groups of interested folks in Northern Ontario….. and had fun all the way! A winter trip in Labrador? Check! A western Canada birding trip ? Check! Bears, Bison & Beaver? Check! And the list goes on. If you can imagine it, we can make it happen!

Or how about guiding Berty Gregory and a National Geographic film crew in september 2016 along the western shores of Vancouver Island.
