If you ever wanted to include a real wilderness adventure in your Canada vacation, look no further than Nootka Island. This remote island is a west coast gem complete with thundering surf, towering trees and plenty of wildlife both on land and in the ocean. Plus you pretty well have it all to yourself.
We start with a spectacular float plane ride to the outer west coast and then take our time hiking the 35 km back to the Muchalaht settlement of Yuquot. There is no fun in rushing so we leisurely explore the world around us and let it all sink in day by day. We travel in a small group of anywhere between 1 and 5 people and 1 experienced Nature Trek Canada guide. Backpacking experience comes in handy, but is not required.
Note – Instead of trekking you may also choose to make day hikes from a base camp setting.
Never have I encountered this level of wilderness education on any trip, first class interpretation and excellent leadership. Did I mention the fun we had?
